Beef Stroganoff

Last week, my husband made his very first specific dinner request.  He requested beef stroganoff.  I did not have any recipes for it in my recipe binder (which will soon turn into two binders, since it’s stuffed to the brim), so I quickly searched my favourite recipe sites and came across this recipe.  Two ingredients?  Slow cooker?  I’m sold!  Though I did include a sliced sweet onion (it was one of her “optional ingredients”), as well as made the pasta right before serving, so technically I suppose it’s 4 ingredients. 😉  I must admit, it was not as creamy as I thought it would be, and my husband noticed that as well.  Also, in my opinion, it was very, VERY salty.  I’m not sure if the excess salt came from the beef or from the cooking creme.  In any case, it was still edible and provided enough for each of us for dinner, along with 3 sets of leftover lunches.  Also, I actually made this earlier this week, but I have just not had the time to blog!  We have been busy cleaning, as well as preparing for our final pre (now post) marital counseling session, which is tonight.  Our homework assignment was to read and dissect Ephesians 5 and read each other’s love languages.

-2-3lbs beef stew meat
-1 (10oz) container of Philadelphia cooking creme (savory garlic flavour)
Optional ingredients:
-sliced yellow onion
-sliced mushrooms
-sliced bell pepper
-hot cooked pasta

-Place meat in your slow cooker
-Add cooking creme
-Add optional ingredients
-Cover and cook on low for 8hrs, or until meat shreds easily with a fork
-Serve with pasta
